Cross-currency refunds

Discrepancies in exchange rates previously created unreconciled refunds when store reporting currencies differed from the original payment currency.

What changed

When an order is paid in one currency but your store reports in another, we convert the refund using an exchange rate. In some cases these rates were different, leaving the refund unreconciled and creating a balance to the Unknown clearing account.

Refunds now convert at the same rate, so the amount booked matches the amount actually refunded. The same fix also corrects partial refunds on cross-currency orders, which could be miscalculated for the same reason.

Who's affected

Any store with cross-currency refunds: orders paid in a different currency than the store reports in. Single-currency refunds were never affected.

Scope

The correction applies to past refunds as well as new ones, so previously affected refunds are restated on the next run, including any in closed periods.

This is a clearing-account reclassification only. There is no P&L impact, your books stay balanced, and in most cases it reduces an overstated balance.

What this means for you

Cross-currency refunds now reconcile at the amount actually refunded, and the Unknown balances they created clear.
