Overview
Blue Onion has identified and resolved a regression bug that affected how shipping revenue was recorded for Shopify orders during December 2025. This issue has been fully corrected, and all data in Blue Onion now accurately reflects shipping revenue for the period.
What Was Affected
Platform: Shopify integrations only
Time Period: December 2025
Issue: Deferred Revenue - Shipping was omitted in the Orders and Cancellations journal entries when unfulfilled Shopify orders were placed. Instead, shipping revenue was only recorded when orders were fulfilled, which could occur in a different accounting period.
Impact: Customers who closed their December books before orders were fulfilled may have understated their Deferred Revenue – Shipping liability for the month, which could result in overstated net income.
This does not impact GL or NetSuite deposits. The impact is limited to Core Application/ERP SubLedger Customers who use journal entries (JEs) within the Blue Onion app.
Root Cause
A regression was introduced in our Shopify order processing pipeline during December that changed how we handled shipping revenue recognition for unfulfilled orders. Our standard practice is to record shipping revenue when an order is placed (on the "ordered at" date), regardless of fulfillment status. The bug caused the system to delay recognition until fulfillment occurred.
Resolution
The bug has been corrected and all affected customer data has been refreshed. Shipping revenue now correctly appears in journal entries based on the order date, consistent with our standard revenue recognition methodology.

If you have not yet closed your December 2025 books:
No action needed. Your Blue Onion data now reflects the corrected shipping revenue amounts.
If you have already closed your December 2025 books:
Review your December Shopify shipping revenue in Blue Onion's Journal Entries -> Explorer
Compare the corrected amounts to what you used in your December close
If there is a material difference, record an adjusting journal entry in your ERP to true up December shipping revenue
